 November 20, 2005 | Oh, Henry We finally decided it was time for a puppy, so for the kid's birthday present this year we drove out to New Caney and let Rachel pick one out from a litter. The puppies had been rescued along with their mother by Brenda, a women Kara works with at her school. Brenda rescues dogs, gives them shots and takes care of them until she can find a home for them. The puppies were half Dalmatian and half Labrador. All of them were black, except one which was spotted. Rachel picked that one. So now we are the proud owners of a male Labmatian….or a Dalmador. With much debate between Rachel and me, we ran through a list of possible names. Rachel vetoed most of my suggestions (Bucky, Scout, Creager) and I said no to most of hers (Pickles, Fire Fighter - pronounced by Rachel as Fi Fighta’ -, Spot). We both agreed Jackson would be a great name for him, but Kendra has said that’s her first choice for a boy’s name when she has kids so that was out. We liked Sam, but again, if Kristen’s baby is a boy she might name him that. So, the only name we both could agree on was Henry. So Henry it is. He’s eight weeks old which means he was born about the time Hurricane Rita came through, so his full name is Hurricane Henry. |
