Liberty County Sunrise

We packed up the kids at 4:30 in the morning last Thursday and headed north to escape Hurricane Rita. The sun came up around 6:50 and found us on highway 321 in Liberty County, Texas. We were in the middle of nowhere and stuck in the mother of all traffic jams along with about two million other people in southeast Texas.

We made it to this road at about 5:30 a.m. At 10:30 a.m. we were still on this road. We had gone twenty miles in five hours. When we passed by this field at sunrise we were in the middle of a stretch where we
had gone less than five miles in two hours.

We finally gave up and went home when we realized there was no end in sight.

Edit: Here's a photo taken a couple minutes later (we had moved about two feet by then) of the traffic in front of us. People would just get out of their cars and stretch, walk around, talk, or find a bush somewhere (like this guy running back to his car had done).
